Something that keeps happening again and again is projects pick things like field manager to create custom meta boxes in the editor when it would often create much better editorial experiences to build native settings.

A guide explaining how you can remove the field manager dependency and manage custom meta values using Gutenberg and extending the settings would be a great resource.
