In #8179, it was noticed that Similarweb has begun tracking select subdomains. After doing some research, I came across this paragraph on their Web Industry FAQs page:

Most subdomains are not categorized.

However, we do make some exceptions, determined by an algorithm that identifies a set list of subdomains to categorize. The algorithm detects subdomains that are significant and unique in relation to the main domain, so that the subdomain could be considered a separate website that requires different categorization.

For example, weather.yahoo.com is a significant and unique subdomain that warrants a different categorization than yahoo.com.

Of course, there isn't a list so we'll have to manually check subdomains on a case-by-case basis. My guess is that government websites are the ones that will need to be manually checked the most.
