Ok to fork and create a custom release?

Thank you for a great extension! I have found some things that I would like to change and tweak and since the project seems abandoned and I couldnt find a license I wanted to ask you if it is ok to fork this and create my own custom version of it and release it under another name (so it wont clash with yours). You will of course get credit for it.
