Is this project alive? #103
Comments
Thank you for the comment and sorry for the long delay of the answer. Is alive again! We have a work done trying to upgrade the thumbor on this image and some changes. |
Hi @eduherraiz ! welcome back from the dead. I've been maintaining https://github.com/MinimalCompact/thumbor for over two years now, with support from the thumbor core team (@kkopachev and others). I believe that now https://github.com/MinimalCompact/thumbor is the de-facto standard docker distribution for thumbor. It's not a direct fork of your project, but it definitely used some of the ideas you started with ... but it's come a long way since. I would suggest that at this point you join forces with us and contribute to our project. I think it will avoid fragmenting the community and duplicating work unnecessarily. We already started working on Thumbor 7 as well ... and of course supporting the latest 6.x versions. |
Hi @gingerlime! Thank you! This project was not completly dead, we have some internal work done in our image but was not released properly. I was looking yesterday in your image and you did an awesome work this two years:
At this moment my objective is upgrade our image for internal purposes, and I have a new version with 6.7.5 ready to test. |
Hey @eduherraiz. Thanks again for creating this repo and maintaining it for a long time. However, it seems like it's no longer maintained for some time now, yet it is still linked to from several places, and it's also ranking high on docker hub for obvious reasons.
Of course, the code here is still useful, but it's likely to lead more people to run outdated versions of thumbor, which would later make upgrades more difficult. If they run into trouble, there's no one to help them.
I actively maintain https://github.com/MinimalCompact/thumbor (together with @kkopachev, who is a core member of the thumbor project as well). And I even try to help people who post questions here from time to time.
Could you archive this project or mark it as no-longer-maintained and link to https://github.com/MinimalCompact/thumbor ? I think it would help you with less noise, and users to find a more actively maintained project.
Of course, if you plan to resume maintenance then I'd be happy to contribute or bring the changes I've made on MinimalCompact into here.
Cheers,
Yoav
