Login verification failed: Error: Chromium revision is not downloaded. Run "npm install" or "yarn install"
I'm getting this error even though I got both puppeteer and chromium installed globally
is this app depricated or something ?

Having the same issue here in Lubuntu. I've been looking around and haven't solved much.

Had the same problem with node v10, it started working when I switched to node v6. I had to install several additional packages as well, but maybe that's because I used it on a minimal Ubuntu installation. Hope it helps, cheers.
