Android release for regular arm phones (although it will also work on a more modern arm64 phone, just like 32 bit programs can run on 64 bit windows), running android 6.0 or later.

Also includes thorium system web view, in case someone wants to replace the default google chrome webview with thorium's one. If you encounter issues, you can always set it back easily.
For info about this and how to do it, see > Here but substituting the play store links for your locally downloaded systemwebview.apk

  • First experimental Android release in almost a year. I think I'm going to work at providing these and maybe make another repo for it.
    See here > #16

This is only for arm64 devices running Android 6.0 or later.

Known Issues

  • Branding is incomplete. Some parts of the UI still say Chromium or Chrome and have Chromium Logo.
  • Discovery on the NTP is broken, because I accidentally built it with enable_discovery = false

Known Positives

  • HLS streams, Widevine, and Sync work out of the box, which makes Thorium the only Chromium browser for Android with those (although samsung internet and Kiwi do have widevine), besides Chrome.

  • Cookies Icon reverted to default and coloured blue
  • H.265/HEVC Patch

Built with new optimization: Polly
You can see a write up of the optimizations Thorium uses (including the new Polly) here > https://thorium.rocks/optimizations, and a page with speed comparisons with screenshots here > https://thorium.rocks/performance. I compare Thorium against Chromium, Chrome, Brave, and Vivaldi.

Finally made another raspberry pi build, with more optimizations tuned for the specific arm cortex a72 processor on the Raspi 4!

  • M105
  • New chrome://flags flag to use dark mode. You can also do it with cmdline flag --force-dark-mode
  • New chrome//flags flag to disable autoplay. You can also do it with cmdline flag --no-autoplay
  • New chrome://flags flag to allow setting a custom NTP. You can also do it with cmdline flag --custom-ntp=http://www.example.com/
  • New chrome://flags flag to allow removing the Side Panel button. You can also do it with cmdline flag --hide-sidepanel-button

· Kudos to ungoogled-chromium for the NTP and Side Panel patches, Dark Mode and AutoPlay patches were made by me for Thorium.

IMPORTANT The install directory is now /opt/chromium.org/thorium instead of /opt/chromium.org/thorium-unstable, so you should do a sudo apt purge thorium-browser-unstable, and then install the new one. (.zip and .appimage users don't need to pay attention to this.)

Attention Users: I have created a 10 question survey to view user satisfaction and how people are installing Thorium. It was created with surverymonkey, and I checked the boxes to anonymize your answers and to allow multiple responses. I would appreciate it if you guys would complete it (should only take ~2 minutes) It is here > https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TJHX7R7

SSE3 Windows Release - M105.0.5172.0

Windows can only be compiled with SSE4.2 or SSE3, instead of regular SSE4 like the linux version. I would prefer these to be SSE4, but there are some people with Core 2 Duo or AMD Bobcat CPUs that wanted to use the SSE4 version since their CPU didn't support AVX, only to find out that their CPU only supported "regular" SSE4, not SSE4.2. This is a workaround, by just using regular old SSE3. You will give up some performance, but the other compiler flags still apply, so it will still be more performant than a regular chromium build.

  • M105 Refresh
  • New installer patches which close installer or thorium.exe if it is running before installing.
