Possible Fixes

Yes

Modpack Version

1.16

What happened?

Cannot craft the soul lantern as the soul torch has been changed to to use a soul fruit from Oh the biomes we've gone. There is no literature about where this fruit is or anything in game and makes it extremely difficult craft the lantern.

Purposed Solution:
Either change the recipe or add a way to craft it so that the soul lantern/torch can be made again as there is no direct route to get these.

As an aside even the change log on modrith/curseforge lack information about where this thing is and all that is included is

Add Soul Fruit, Glow Bottles, Pale Pumpkins

making one take a deeper dive into the change log on github.

then

Potion-Studios/Oh-The-Biomes-Weve-Gone#149

For anyone else looking for the materials it is in the Pale Bog added by the BWG 'Sp00ktober' Patch Notes {1.21.1} of Oh the Biomes We've Gone

Additionally I found the pale bog and chopped it all down, got a grand total of 5538 spirit logs with a massive amount of 9 soul fruit.

It takes 1 soul fruit for 4 soul torches so I managed to get 36 worth for 5538 logs. Seems amazing right?

Also, from the post is seems that the fruit is farmable but not idea how to as I cannot find the information I am looking for. I must not be wording the question right but it should still be readily available information.

-Will grow like all of our other fruit blocks, this will specifically grow from Flowering Spirit Leaves and can only be grown on Flowering Spirit Leaves

Cannot for the life of me fiure out how to do this, I am sure that the whirlisprig could farm it but cannot place the thing. So next option is attempting to cardboard box or cut paste it.

In the same post they also say this:

Soul Fruit cannot be picked up and grown somewhere else, once you break it, that's it! So be cautious as to where you want this fruit and where you don't there is no take backs!

So, what I did was just find where some soul fruit was growing (usually upside down on the trees) and just spammed bone meal on it and "grew" it that way to get like two stacks. I'm sure if you wanted to automate that with a modular router that could be done.

@dKatsuro You can move them with a cardboard box and just silk touch the leaves needed. Then you can place them anywhere.

On another note, as the soul torch/lantern is needed for mine colonies and in not so small amounts having a change like this without any notice or in-game clues is at best a terrible move.

In addition it came about only after a mod included in the mod-pack was updated after the mod pack was already released for 1.0. To top it all off the recipe change from BWG is destructive in that it removes the original recipe and forces theirs on top.

To quote the mod pack maker

In All the Mods 10 we will continue the tradition adding many new mods while going for more stability.

This type of change with no forewarning is definitely not on the stability side of things.
