Thank you,
That looks to be it working.
One of the issues was I missed the setting loading image to web
setting Changed that to true and followed your instructions.
The other issue I have is my internet seems to be a bit dodgy so it seems
not to be working when its just a case that I have lost internet!
Will do a few more indoor tests and then get it focused and get the dome
put in place. Hopefully, by the end of the weekend, It will be in position.
Thanks for your help

directories. They also have a concept of a "root" or topmost point of the
filesystem, where everything is below that point. In Linux, the root is /,
and directories are separated by / (e.g., /a/b/c) whereas Windows uses \.
Windows also has drive letters, but each drive has a root: C:\, D:\, etc.
In the example of /a/b/c, a and b are directories because they have a /
after their name. c could be a directory OR a file.
It's the same with /var/www/html.
There's an important distinction between a *URL* and a *directory*.
In your case, www.skippyinspace.com/allsky is a *website URL*, not a
directory. However, when a user goes to that URL the IONOS server
translates it into some directory on the server, then looks in that
directory for the specified file (index.php in our case). Typically the
www.skippyinspace.com URL would get translated to the root directory of
*your* space on the IONOS server, and www.skippinspace.com/allsky would
get translated to the allsky sub-directory.
I also use IONOS and when coming in via FTP, I'm automatically put into
the root directory. I created a sub-directory called allsky and copied
everything in there. Because that directory is in the root of my server
(whose URL is eccssw.com), the URL to my allsky directory is
eccssw.com/allsky. I use IMAGE_DIR="allsky" in ftp-settings.sh.
In your post you had IMAGE_DIR="/image.jpg/". image.jpg is the name of a
FILE, but the IMAGE_DIR variable expects the name of a DIRECTORY. Change
it to "allsky" withOUT any / (IONOS doesn't allow /allsky for some reason
- it took me quite a while to realize that).
Because the videos, keograms, and startrails directories are under allsky,
their settings are VIDEOS_DIR="allsky/videos",
KEOGRAMS_DIR="allsky/keograms", and STARTRAILS_DIR="allsky/startrails".
Use HOSTNAME="www.skippyinspace.com".
If you ALSO installed the Allsky Website on your Pi, it was put in
/var/www/html/allsky. var is a directory in the Pi's root directory, and
www is a directory in var, etc. People that ONLY have an Allsky Website
on their Pi use PROTOCOL="local", then set
IMAGE_DIR="/var/www/html/allsky", VIDEOS_DIR="/var/www/html/allsky/videos",
etc. Alsky then knows to simply copy the files to those directories,
instead of uploading them somewhere off the Pi.
The WEB_*_DIR variables in ftp-settings.sh are for people like me that
have two Allsky Websites - one on the Pi and one on a remote server. In
this case, I set PROTOCOL="ftp" and set the IMAGE_DIR, VIDEOS_DIR, ... to
point to the directory on the server, PLUS I set the WEB_*_DIR variables
to point to the location on the PI where Allsky should ALSO copy the files
to, which is /var/www/html/allsky....
If you only have the Website on IONOS, then don't use the WEB_*_DIR
variables.
The WebUI doesn't use any of the above - it simply looks for
/home/pi/allsky/tmp/image.jpg which is created for every picture. That's
why it works when the Websites may not.
Because the Allsky Website can be on the Pi OR on a remote server, we have
to tell it where the image is. On the Pi we use
fileName="/current/tmp/image.jpg". "/current" is an alias for "/home/pi".
For remote websites, the image is uploaded to the "allsky" directory which
is where the Website resides, so it simply looks in that directory for the
"image.jpg" file, hence it uses fileName="image.jpg".
Let me know if you need more info.
