ES requires reinstall in order for retroarch to work

I've been having an issue where retroarch specifically is loading incorrectly through ES. When i try to lauch any retroarch console through ES non of my save states load and i get a controller not configured error in the bottom left making it unplayable. Retroarch works in stand alone and in pegasus but stops working regularly through ES it will work after i reinstall ES but its very often almost on every boot.

Im running on chimeraOS with a ryzen 5 5500 and rx580
