Getting Started
When you open AudioKit Synth One for the first time, it will load a sound Preset, and you can start playing right away with the onscreen piano keyboard or a connected device such as a bluetooth piano controller.
The second thing you may want to do is explore the various sounds included with the synth. Each sound is called a Preset, and each Preset is organized into Banks which are collections of sounds. Presets are also Categorized by characteristics such as: Arp/Seq, Poly, Pad, Lead, Bass, Pluck, etc.
AudioKit Synth One offers multiple views in order to fully customize sound Presets. Every Preset has dozens of parameters which can be adjusted. There are so many settings for each Preset that they simply wouldn't all fit on a single screen. In this section, we will cover each of the parameter views available in Synth One, and then later we will dive deeper into the finer details of each one.
At the very top of Synth One is the Navigation Bar, which offers a few buttons and controls we should go over first. From left to right the items in the nav bar are:
- AudioKit Synth One — More than just a pretty logotype? Maybe…
- Web — This launches AudioKitPro.com in your browser.
- ⚂⚃ (Preset Randomizer) — Tap this to randomize the sound Preset. Fun!
- Preset Navigator — Use the ◀︎ ▶︎ arrows to navigate though Presets, or tap the Preset name to choose from the list (Tap again to close).
- Save Tap this button to save any changes you've made to the current Preset.
- Apps Check out our other FREE app! No ads were harmed in the making of this promo.
- Panic — Don't Panic. This button turns off all notes, MIDI and otherwise.
- About — Get more information about AudioKit Synth One. Watch a Video. Leave a Review. See the Code. Leave a Bug Report! Find the Dev Controls/Easter Egg (Tap on AudioKit Synth One at the top).
/// Insert image of top nav bar with Preset name highlighted ///
Preset Navigator: At the top center of the screen is the current Preset name, for example: 0: Synthwave 1974. The Preset name is surrounded by ◀︎ left and right ▶︎ arrows. You can tap the arrows to navigate through Presets quickly, or you can tap on the Preset name to open up the Preset Navigation list. To close this list, tap the selected Preset name at the top of the screen (not in the list).
When the Preset Navigation list view is open, you can use your finger to scroll up and down through the list of Presets and tap on a name to load it. You can also Favorite, Edit, Duplicate, or Share each individual Preset (We'll talk about deleting presets later).
To the left of the Preset list is the Bank/Category list — navigate this list and use it to filter Presets by Bank name, Category, or just tap All to show every Preset available to AKS1. The + button here allows you to create your own custom Banks for organizing Presets however you like.
To the right of the Bank/Category and Preset lists is the Preset Detail section, showing Category and Preset Functions. Additional information about the Preset is also shown here, such as performance notes, or who created the Preset.
