Unssupported items should be turned into an placeholder item. You should not be able to use the item. Also when deserializing the data should become the original data.

Ideas of placeholder items would be useful.

I was thinking about an unplaceable dead bush renamed to "Unsupported Item" And the item type in the lore. (Can't get the item name as that is not stored)

Nice.
Can properties of the unsupported item be restored too?
But it is should be enough to only restore the item type in the short term.
