A quick look at Amazon's doco suggests its a drop in replacement for MySQL and (soon) Postgres that is significantly cheaper. But it causes lots of special cases in the code. It's also possible we could change the way the Aurora code works to remove the special cases (Why does it need the special cluster stuff? Can we just create a single cluster at setup time?)
