Many of the fields in CITATION.cff are duplicates from VERSION and pyproject.toml. We could create a github action to parse the source files and update the fields in CITATION.cff. If the tool ever gets its own standalone journal article, then the action should be turned off as the citation info would then correspond to the paper and would not change.
