Describe the solution you'd like

This is kind of a pain point in linux at the moment imo, since neither kde or gnome has this feature ootb. The feature would change the theme of the desktop, for example when the night light switches on, or at a set time, and nothing else, no decorations, no titlebars, only the dark/light preference.

Describe alternatives you've considered

ZorinOS had this feature for a good number of years now

Additional context

In kde it's very annoying to go through the settings app and uncheck all the options when you want to change the theme, would be nice to have some agnostic solution, though this may ultimately be the DE's job.

Checklist

  • I checked for duplicate issues.
  • I checked already existing discussions.
  • This feature is not included in the roadmap.

Linutil isn't intended to run as a daemon or service. This is out of scope. One of the tools you mentioned could be added to the Application Setup, though.
