GOALS:
Introduce Github as a collaborative tool for code & for documents to the wider public in Pittsburgh.
Key items to hit:

  • Features and Benefits - why use this tool?
  • What other tools exist in this space?
  • What kinds of things are on Github?
  • Username Creation
  • Setup of Profile
  • Create a Repo from scratch
  • First Commit
  • Markdown
  • Introduction to collaboration
    FINALLY
  • introduce project!

TO DO

  • Add Save the Date to Civic Tech Newsletter
  • Add H Day Save the Date to Civic Tech Newsletter
  • Plan Curriculum
  • Construct Agenda
  • Set up Meetup
  • Schedule Tweets (via Buffer)

@csheldonhess suggests: https://github.com/anchorageprogramming/github101 as potential curriculum.

Or at least part of a curriculum. It doesn't go into creating issues.

And it's based on the GUI version, which may or may not be the right choice.
