This article gives good advice for remote engineering teams. It is also helpful because it deals specifically towards engineering teams. Some advice they give is to:
Limit meetings so workers can have more uninterrupted time in order to focus and work (scrum teams might differ since their recurring meetings are beneficial)
Communication needs to be as clear as possible. Using visualizations during team collaboration is a good way for team members to stay informed and gain more of an understanding. Tools such as MURAL help to improve shared understanding, collaboration, and communication.
Encourage Time blocking. This enables teams to split part of their day into blocks for different tasks that others are able to view. This increases transparency for team members and for team members to see what each member is doing during their day.
Implement retrospective meetings. This is a good way to find out what went well, and what could have gone better. This is also really useful because every team dynamic is different -- somethings might work for others, while other things might not. So, it is beneficial to take time and see what those benefits are.
