If it outputs standard MIDI, it should already work? |
Thank you, Chris. I would have thought so too. But it doesn’t seem to connect in any way. I thought there must be some kind of setting in FCP to hook it up to external controllers, but I’ve not found any. It would be great to at least get the scroll wheel working.

Have you tried setting up in MIDI panel? |
I’m afraid I don’t know what you’re referring to.

I am guessing you mean the MIDI panel inside of CommandPost. I had not installed the app because I didn’t think it would work with my S88 controller. But I’ve installed it now, and am staring at the MIDI panel there. I can select the S88 in the device field, but I’m not clear on what to do with the rest of it. I’ll try to find some instructions, but if you can either instruct me or point me to instructions that would be appreciated.

I think I’m getting the hang of it. Pretty cool!

The Native Instruments S88 is one of a series of MIDI keyboard controllers from Native Instruments, designed to work with DAWs (digital audio workstations like Apple Logic or Protools.) All the keyboards in that series include a scroll/jog wheel, 8 additional knobs, a series of transport buttons, and another 15 various buttons. Since I work in music and audio, as well as video, I have my S88 right in front of my computer. I'd love it if I could use it to control FCPX - especially the scroll wheel and the transport buttons. Please consider adding it to the "to do" list.
