There is a need to explicitly represent the plural form of skos concepts in our controlled vocabularies across the languages. Hence:
When converting the data and parsing free text to disambiguate the name of an instrument (e.g. 2 pianos)
When displaying the data in a user interface (e.g. in Overture)
Best practices for managing the plural form of terms vary.
There was this label ontology but unfortunately, this ontology is not widely used, unavailable at the moment (503 response).
Originally, the skos:altLabel property was meant to be used for plural forms, see the original definition but this is not written anymore in the Recommendation version of the document
