I read in some posts back from 2022 that M1 support was coming shortly, but building still seems to fail on my Mac. Are there any parameters I can change or add to make it compile?

I've successfully compiled hisat2 with some tweaks on Apple Silicon. brewsci/homebrew-bio#1777 Please consider installing hisat2 with brew install brewsci/bio/hisat2.
