The eighth-note G in lower voice in this example taken from Lassus's duo Qui Vult should be labelled as a chanson idiom but it is getting a passing tone label. This means that at least the first problem is in the passing-tone definition.

This is actually a place where both labels would work if we accept chanson idioms in eighth notes (fusi).
