Alternative chapter titles? #29
Comments
Is there one version where there's a good reason to think it's more authoritative/better edited/preferred/whatever? If so, let's use that, otherwise let's keep things as is until an authoritative version is clear (presumably this would be "wherever the next chapter gets uploaded first"). |
Well, I'm guessing that the existing titles were collected from FFN, which is the only site where chapter 43 was uploaded. So if we're choosing one winner, it's probably already done. Is there a good way to record the alternate titles? |
I'll just dump it here and we can revisit if we need to. Here's the current chapter names on each site and how they match up.
|
The most permanent way is as branches. |
The symbols for chapters 25, 36, and 40 should be "close match", along with possibly 21. 22 should be an exact match. Also, 16 differs only in whether "visit" is capitalised, which is basically an exact match (lowercase is an error, title case is clearly the standard). |
You could add Royal Road to the table now. I think it's copying from the Fanfic Authors values. |
Updated the table. Royal Road is definitely looking like a more or less consensus answer to what the chapter titles should be. SIYE looks like the odd one out. The exceptions I'd make are:
I'll take a final look when the next chapter gets released and update things accordingly, but happy to accept a PR in the interim if anyone wants it sooner. |
Many of the chapters have different titles on different sites, particularly SIYE. For example, chapter 1 is "Back to Privet Drive..." on fanficauthors.net and phoenixsong.net, but is "Welcome to Sunny Surrey" on SIYE.
How should we handle this?
