inconsistent state after overpasting into a column

Pasting 269 values into an empty table in column 'right' works.

Then, without committing, trying to paste 301 values into column 'left' does not work:

The problem does not exist for samall lists.

It might be a view buffer size limitation (300 rows) but that would be very inconvenient because sometimes we want to insert a few thousand rows like that.
