User Manual
Welcome to the Guitartuner user manual! Here you can find instructions on how to use Guitartuner application.
To start the Guitartuner application, enter:
./guitartuner
in the debug directory.
To exit the application, press CTRL-C.
When started, the application defaults to tune the first string of the guitar.
Press the button on the left on which string is needed to be tuned, then hit the string and tune it into a green color bar on the thermometer!
-
these buttons correspond to the standard frequencies of each open string of the guitar. By clicking the corresponding button the standard frequency will be set into the program
-
When we pluck the string, the number in the red box corresponds to the difference between the current frequency of the string and the standard frequency. when the text shows "low" and the colour of the thermometer is yellow, that means the user needs to tighten the string to turn up the frequency of this open string. on the other hand, if the text shows "high" and the colour of the thermometer is red , the user might need to loosen the string to turn down the frequency of the string. when the text shows "tunned" and the thermometer is become green, that means this string is tunned.
The frequency of the tuning has an error range of plus or minus 10, which means that the frequency of the currently tuned string is 10 Hz away from the standard frequency, which we think is acceptable. Within this error range, we believe that the string has been adjusted correctly. Of course, the user can also see the difference from the numbers in the red box and make more precise adjustments.
- We display the real-time spectrum of the outside sound here for users to use as a reference for tuning.
Hint: This is not the real external frequency. In order to eliminate the influence of harmonics on the detection results, we added a real-time 1000Hz low-pass filter
