Getting DB Changes to Show

Hello.. I am trying to add a 1 perp item mod to the energy earring +1 as part of some job balance experimentation.. I use..
INSERT INTO xidb.item_mods VALUES (14694, 346, 1);

Both in mysql workbench or heidisql.. while the record is there when equipping the item the expected effect doesn't happen. I am wondering if there is a cache that needs to be cleared, sync event that needs to take place or some other mechanism for item_mod table changes to take effect? I also tried reducing the effect of an elemental staff to see if that change would be visible and it wasn't. I tried zoning in and out of windurst between changes, logging in and out etc.. to no avail. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have you attempted restarting the server to see if effects worked?

I gave that a try and it worked.. I noticed a do_init message on load on the map server..
ShowInfo("do_init: loading items"); itemutils::Initialize();

I'm guessing that's where it's loaded into memory or something.. Is there any command anyone know off hand to reload while the server is running or is a reboot the current accepted method? I will do some investigating.. if it doesn't exist maybe I can make a gm command to re initialize it.

To answer or comment more on my own response.. it looks like when the server starts it stores all the items object data in an array of pointers in itemutils.cpp . Potentially a command could be made in the xi_map.exe or from a gm to run..
FreeItemList() followed by..
Initialize() again to potentially reload the items from the db into the server memory again. Not sure what the impact would be to call that during server runtime though, will need to hunt a bit more. I realize I may be the only one interested in this but thought I'd share anyways. Thanks again to Mortalelite for the suggestion to reboot.. for some reason I was stuck on thinking it was something it'd find in runtime.

If you're trying to come up with quick balance things during runtime, I wouldn't recommend hooking up anything that reloads these big global arrays we load during startup. I'd go with GM commands that add/alter the mods you want, maybe printing out what the values are as you go. Then once you're happy you can canonicalize them in the database.
