I am having the same issue, i tried going to the toolbox, right click to "Choose Item"> COM Components and checked "Map Control", However, i feel this is not the correct way, or there are missing steps. I installed the exe files for MapWinGIS because it was even more difficult to find the fines on vs with the source code.

please assist if youve found a fix or I'll wait with you.
