Presently, VAPOR can color the streamlines based on 3D variable. One can include more options here, such as color according to variable at the base or seed points. In this case, the entire field line will be of one color, scale on the value at the foot point at the base (z=0). This kind of option is available in ViSiT. In solar applications, these features are desired for a handy visualization of the magnetic fields.
Also, as I already discussed in this forum, the seed point generator can be an option, which enables one to pick streamlines representing the desired picture.
