A recent NCAS-CMS Help Desk query alerted me to the fact that cf-python is not supported for ARM(64) architectures, at least in terms of having a dedicated working build for these systems: cf-python is only registered as being supported for linux-64 and osx64 but notosx-arm64.
We should investigate whether it is possible to create an ARM(64) build, given our dependencies and whether they support this. It is important especially since many Mac machines, popular amongst technical folk, use arm64 nowadays, and a colleague has told me that:
osx64-generic is still supported on arm64 architectures, but they will drop that support soon so by then, we'd have to move to arm64 builds
