It is very time-consuming to search for your own nickname on the large list of server members. A better description for step number 3.a.i could be:

  • i. Click on 'User Settings' icon on the bottom-left corner. Go to the 'Profiles tab' and the 'Server Profiles' subtab. Under 'CHOOSE A SERVER' box, select the NMA server(s) you are in. Change your display name on the 'SERVER NICKNAME' box.

A better description for step 3.b could be:

  • You can start private messages with anybody. In order to do so, click on 'Direct Messages' icon on the top-left corner. Click on the box 'Find or start a conversation' and then write the nickname or username on the box to search. Click on the name of a user in the results and a chat with the user will open. (You can use anywhere the @ symbol before the username to quickly search and tag that user)

A better description for step 3.c could be:

  • You can start group private messages with anybody as long as you send them a friend request and they accept it. For this go to 'Direct Messages' page and click on 'Friends' button which is below the box 'Find or start a conversation'. Click on the 'Add a friend' tab on the top. Search by username the user you would like to add. To create a new group private message click on 'New Group DM' icon on the top-right corner, check all the friends you would like to be in the new group private message and then click on 'Create DM'.
  • points i. and ii. could be left as they are

Could you please allow me to suggest changes or leave comments on the Google Doc? I sent an access request some moments earlier today.

Please find attached some more of my suggestions:

  • Page 4-6
-- Channel guide / TEACHING ASSISTANTS / attendance help-desk: delete DL and write NMA courses
-- Channel guide / CONTENT HELP / general-content-help: last 2 sentences do not apply for 2024
-- Channel guide / INFORMATION / rules: delete "NMA-DL" and write "NMA courses"
-- Channel guide / DIVERSITY / change: change "specific role" to "specific group"? (review appropiate word with native speakers and self-identifying individuals)
-- #rules channel mentioned throught the guide is not visible now, but might be after course update

  • Page 7
    -- Support guide / 1.a. / 3rd paragraph: provide link to FAQ

  • Page 9-10
-- None of the bots can be added with the links provided, but might be after course update
-- Bots are listed as Alumnus users. Guide should be updated to explain that in the use examples.
-- EasyPoll listed as Alumnus is not working. 1st error: Try in a few minutes. 2nd error: no permissions to use the command. This can be allowed in NMA 2024 following the instructions of this link. Alternatively you can use NMA poll instead and write its description as an example.

Please find below the rest of my suggestions:

Pages 11-16

  • Friend Time (1st explanation) can be removed. 2nd explanation is better, I suggest at least to change "Then, whenever you state or react to a time in a chat" for something more specific as the description in the bot website:
-- "The bot will automatically react to times mentioned in the chat with a clock emoji 🕰️. Clicking on this emoji will convert the time to your time zone which will be sent in a direct message (DM)." Modified from: https://friend-time.arilyn.cc/

  • Message Scheduler examples need to be improved. I cannot use it yet so I cannot make more specific suggestions. Easy Poll example is better but can also be improved.

  • Mathbot update instructions to new version, e.g. from '=' to '/' syntax. Picture on guide uses exponential (26)x = 218 and not multiplication. A screenshot of output of current version would show this correctly.

  • Bookmarker guide may be improvable, cannot evaluate in discord for more specific suggestions.

  • Consider using AI Image Generator (https://discord.com/application-directory/1032699319368814652) instead of Skynet (I could not find).

  • Consider using Discord Stage channels instead of AMA bot (automoderator.app) and maybe even other broadcasting sessions https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005513722-Stage-Channels-FAQ

  • Consider reviewing open-source good practices of the suggested website app providers. Some can actually be updated with official discord website (as the one from AI Image Generator provided).

  • Threads/ : Update 1st screenshot to depict the updated icon for creating threads. Screenshots for the displayed GUI can also be updated. Discord FAQ website has screenshots from unupdated version too. Mention that it will be archived in 7 days and can be consulted afterward by searching with the same icon.

I just realized I can test all the missing bots by creating my own server. Please let me know if you would like me to ellaborate more on the missing support-guide suggestions of these bots.
