Environment:

  • MacOS 10.15.4
  • Docker for Mac (Stable)
  • docker-compose 1.25.5

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create docker-compose.yml
  2. Create definitions directory inside the directory with docker-compose file
  3. Put the .yml OpenAPI definition inside the definitions directory
  4. Run docker-compose, get Could not find definition error

The problem was that the name of the API file contained dots.
