How are you? I hope you've been well. It was great to speak with Jacky and team at Happy Veggies yesterday evening, and I look forward to making the art piece in the next week :)

Today I reach out to you as part of the civic data team at Open Data HK. As part of the global open data movement and together with developers and journalists, we are building an open online platform for civic data in HK.
We are currently rolling out the platform and inviting NGOs and social enterprises to participate in our pilot program. I immediately thought of reaching out to you because of your intimate understanding of HK's impact space, including the work of HKCSS-SEBC and its member organizations. Perhaps you can guide us towards the relevant parties at HKCSS or potentially interested social enterprises?

Our goal is to unlock civic data - data that is of public interest and does not contain any personal information (e.g. anonymous survey results or data from daily operations).

This platform will help impact players (NGOs & social enterprises) publish their datasets so journalists, data scientists, and researchers can weigh in and amplify your message. Related NGOs and social enterprises could also combine their datasets to build a stronger case for their issue.

In the pilot program, we explain exactly what it means to publish a dataset online and help organizations select and format the data for publication. It wouldn't involve collecting new data, but merely making public what's already available.

I've just touched the surface of what it would mean for civil society to have a data portal in Hong Kong, and would love to meet with any interested participants of the pilot to further discuss benefits, and address any concerns. Your guidance would be of great help to us.
