R package uses the default covariate settings (all drugs, drug classes, condition, condition classes, procedures, observations, etc. from documentation ); Protocol specifies covariates as demographics, conditions, condition aggregation, drugs, drug aggregation, Risk scores: Charlson comorbidity index -- does not include procedures, measurements, or observations
