With pixi it gets soo much easier to install mss and kept uptodate that I am thinking about deprecation of these scripts.
For linux and macOS from the example
curl -fsSL https://pixi.sh/install.sh | bash
and for windows powershell
Add-Content -Path $PROFILE -Value '(& pixi completion --shell powershell) | Out-String | Invoke-Expression'
then restart the shell
afterwards
pixi global install mss
and updating is done by
pixi global upgrade-all
A showstopper is currently the missing menuinst functionality. prefix-dev/pixi#1039
Until this is available msui, mssautoplot, etc can only be started from the command line
