The RIA currently lists the following in UC 0d (Multi-domain OTN interdomain links discovery (Plug-id based on OTN TTI)):
Implementations following this RIA SHOULD set the following values:
Local-id: Source Access Point Identifier (SAPI) in TxTI
Remote-id: Expected Source Access Point Identifier (ExSAPI)
In some implementations, the SAPI (and DAPI) fields being only 16 characters are not sufficient to easily generate network wide unique values. In this situation, use of other fields such as the Operator field provides relief.
In addition, having to program the expected values is sometimes thought of as counter productive to using TTI as a discovery mechanism.
Suggestion is to expose the full set of TTI attributes defined in ITU-T Rec. G.709
