Packet devices are frequently connected to OTN devices via grey Ethernet interfaces for the purpose of medium to long haul transport between packet devices.
OTN devices with Ethernet interfaces may support inspecting (aka snooping) Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) type-length-value structures (TLVs).
These snooped TLVs can be used by a system to correlate device interfaces in the pack domain to device interfaces in the Optical domain and hence generate PCS layer connectivity.
The suggested enhancement is to report the Snooped TLVs against Ethernet interfaces on OTN devices.
