Best way to get up-to-date features in a production environment? #2076
-
I need to make use of functionality related to setting ChrootDirectory to a symlink, which was introduced in v9, on production Server 2019 machines. v7.7 is installed as a capability but does not support the feature I need. I've successfully tested the feature in v9. Is there a recommended way to use v9 in production? From what I've read elsewhere in the issues, it seems the main reason this is labeled as "not production ready" is that there will be no service channels, so security updates will a) need to be manually performed instead of through WSUS and b) will be bundled with new features, so new bugs or regressions may potentially be introduced. Is this accurate? On a side note, I interpreted this comment as indicating that the Azure VM extension for OpenSSH could allow a more up to date version to be installed in a production manner, but when trying to deploy it I get an error saying |

After further review of the issues, I've found #1693 which seems to make it clear that the only way to get a certified "production" release is to wait for it to be released with Windows as a capability. |
