Recently, I reviewed a PR from another member of our org, and the PR author raised some good points regarding our homepage links and calls-to-action. This PR also inspired good conversations in various Slack channels/DMs, along with in the issue itself, about best practices for links across the site.
I'll try my best to summarize some of the points and areas where we can improve
Start locally
, that leads users to the more in-depth installation tutorial?I'd love to hear from anyone who has thoughts on the above.
Here are my initial thoughts:
I think most links and CTAs could be a tad bit more descriptive. We tend to use labels such as "Get started" and "Learn more"; I still feel like we can make a little bit more of an effort to describe where we're taking users.
Since the concern was raised, I think we should revisit/audit the a11y-friendliness of the Qiskit install section. I've opened a new issue to review accessibility of the Qiskit Install widget
I'd love to hear what others think. I'm not against adding a paragraph + link, for users that need a more in-depth installation guide.
We also noticed that in our homepage code, we don't have all CTAs instrumented. I've opened an issue for us to Instrument all homepage CTAs that we want to learn from, since some are missing.
