The section "Appearance" could include an option to change buttons position and/or remove certain buttons (in my case I never use the option "Search with case sensitivity"), something like what can be done in about:customizing.
Initially I just thought in suggest that an option is added to the "Close" button could be placed to the left (as it was in previous versions of Firefox) but I think that many could benefit more with this idea.

Already on my to-do list.

Master Password+ addon has something like I proposed (option "Show in Address bar"):
display-options
Although it is something that only goes relocating the icon following the mouse position, could serve as a basis to implement this functionality.

That is definitely not what I mean to add, and it is also not what I understood from your initial request. I only mean to make movable the buttons and labels and stuff inside the findbar. The findbar itself cannot be moved out of its current place like that (and definitely not just portions of it).

If not misunderstand, in a way the option that I described before can do this. The next demonstration is clearer:

The padlock goes follow the cursor and when the same is pressed, it changes from "OFF" to "ON" and its position is changed in real address bar.
Maybe you can do something like putting a "copy" of the search bar in the section "Appearance" and so clicking on one of the elements should be enabled to that follow the pointer and after a second click (either on the same element or another) should lock it in place, just as I showed earlier with the option of Master Password+.
I do not know if this approach is to feasible with the search bar but if so I think would be the simplest implementation "programmatically speaking" (just unzip the extension and review all files of the content folder containing the word urlbar to know how it works). As a complement, and if things you are interested is to implement the conventional drag and drop with the elements, maybe this or this also can be useful for you.

Oh, you meant the drag and drop thing as an example on how to do it. Yeah, that's pretty much how I intend to do it, I already have a drag and drop system in place that I can use for this.
