When I attempt to open Syncplay for the first time I am blocked from opening it by my Mac's security screening stating: "Syncplay can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."
I attempted to launch Syncplay from within the applications folder.
What I expected to be met with was the standard warning that "This app was downloaded from the internet are you sure you want to open it?"
Screenshot of the warning message:
I am running
MacOS ventura (13.6.3)
Syncplay version 1.7.1
I am also more generally attempting to run Syncplay with VLC (3.0.20) though I suspect this has little to do with the error given that I have yet to launch Syncplay altogether.

Thanks for raising this issue. As Syncplay is just a small open source project we don't have a paid Apple account allowing us to sign apps (or a build workflow designed to allow us to sign our software). As such, macOS users who want to use Syncplay have to either run it directly through Python or follow the instructions at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491#openanyway to allow them to run the Syncplay disk image. We've now added this information to our website to make this clear.
