Summary

Generally, if the entities are deleted (i.e., Application, Gateway, Organization, or User) in The Things Stack Cloud, there is a default period of 24 hours when an administrator can restore them. If the user tries to restore a deleted entity beyond 24 hours, a restore_window_expired error will be observed. Please document this error and resolution in the Delete, Restoring, and Purging Entities guide.

Why do we need this?

To assist users in Delete, Restoring, and Purging entities in The Things Stack.

What is already there? What do you see now?

Deleting, Restoring and Purging Entities guide in Manage The Things Stack.

What is missing? What do you want to see?

Documentation on the cause and resolution for the restore_window_expired error.

How do you propose to document this?

Insights

  • If the entities are deleted, there is a default time period of 24 hours when an administrator can restore them in The Things Stack Cloud. For The Things Stack Enterprise deployments, it is possible to configure this restoration period. For more info, check Identity Server Options.

  • If the user attempts to restore the entity beyond 24 hours, it is not possible to restore such entities and observe the error "error:pkg/identityserver:restore_window_expired (this entity can no longer be restored)". In such cases, entities should be purged from the administrator account, and recreate the entity.
