Icon sets, Shopping lists, or any other set with individual data are not ideally provided as a plugin because as shadow tids they cannot be removed. Often, one one wants particular icons, items, etc.
[...] download a plugin from a library of say thousands of SVG's and provide a browser tiddler, then as the designer selects the tiddlers they wish, simply add a tag or time stamp or other value to each selected svg tiddler such they become tiddlers, rather than only plugin shadows. At this point the original plugin can provide a method to generate a new plugin of only the selected svgs.
By "browser tiddler" I believe Tony means a tiddler with a UI that lets you search and browse through the items.
Great idea Tony. Here's an even simpler variant of Tonys idea:
There is a totally independent hosted wherever, by whoever. This is only the "browser tiddler". This is installed by the user into the "icon host" wiki (i.e no js/reload needed) and shows a UI with something like this:
I.e, you select which plugin you want to see shadows from. You add some filter. A list is presented. It could probably show the very icons too. You check the icons you like which adds a tag to them (and thus creates real tiddlers, inside the hosts wiki) and then you have that tag which you can drag right from there into your own wiki.
This is almost trivial to create. ("So why don't you do it Mat?" - You know I would if I had the time, because it would need some pretty to make it nice and it always takes a few hours no matter how small a plugin is. But, for something as small as this, a main problem is again that TiddlySpot is down so we don't have any official hosting solution. I'm just not fond of the idea to put it on someones totally unknown server and scattering out plugins even more...)
