Since gPXE sees to be somewhat dead and iPXE picked up the slack, seems to be same bunch of people and it is a drop in replacement.

There's no inherent reason we can't, though it probably won't happen on its own.

I got the hint ;) building illumos-kvm-cmd from source is on my todo list anyway.
I'll see if I can muster PR at some point.

I looked into this, does not seem to hard if you know what you are doing. But I don't and well I never managed to compile a untouched kvm binary -_-. I'm not sure if I shoud close this or not, it's more a feature request than a bug.

This was done by @jclulow in commit 90643d5, so this can be closed.

@xen0l That's only for VirtIO NICs. I think I should go back and update the e1000 ROM as well, then we can close it.
