We need to have a white label with bold RED text if possible that tells people to disconnect red power cable from battery before any working on the product. Some points for this sticker are as follows.

  • Must be clearly visible to anybody who is going to start putting on or off the Sonar board or raspberry Pi or MCB
  • Ideally not blaring location on the general product which would distract from the 'natural beauty' of the chassis
  • Ideally the sticker could be put on different locations and we may even decide to put 2 on the unit

Avoid it being hard to see when the top flat plate is on the product as sonar can be removed with that still intact.

Possible locations

  • facing up along the front to back flat bar on the side with the switches midway between wheel and castor
  • A second label wrapped around the RED power cable near it's connector (not ideal for a label to stay but good place)
  • On the side of the front top-plate bracket readable from inside of battery area (not ideal but perhaps a good 2nd location)

Perhaps the real issue here isn't the lack of labels but the false sense of security that the main power switch provides, calling itself the "main power" switch while not actually turning off the entire system. Perhaps the next gen boards could benefit from a physical breaker switch that fully disconnects power instead.

another battery switch would probably also be nice, the connectors on the battery cables are not ment to be constantly re-connected. But for me personally, there is nothing quite like the overwhelming comfort and the liberating security of seeing the battery completely disconnected before servicing :D
