Is there a way to set the color of a status bar mode based on the theme?

I'd like the color for normal mode to be the default status bar color.

I switch between light and dark themes, so I can't just set it to the default color.

I couldn't find a way to refer to the current theme's colors.

Is there a way to set the color for a mode to the default status bar color?

Alternatively, is there a way to set different mode colours based on whether the theme is light or dark?
