Most of the features from #50396 are destined for WP 6.3. To this end we really need some test coverage.

There have been two recent examples of regressions around this code and it would be possible for more to be introduced.

Let's get some Playwright "smoke" tests spun up to assert on the basics. We can add fine detail later.
