i've been doing a lot of playing tonight - and i've worked out the issue isn't codec related - it appears to be the scaling which is causing the problem. if i connect to a machine using MeshRouter, everything moves about as i move the mouse. if i click "Toggle Fit to Zoom" then i zoom into the screen and everything is solid. if i change the scaling to 87.5%, the problem is gone. so when i connect to a machine that (essentially) has a higher resolution than my monitor and my scaling is set to 100%, this causes funny visual effects when i'm using the machine. if i change to 87.5% and full screen it works fine. so i guess i've found a workaround for this, which makes me pretty happy. also explains why the Macbook didn't have the same issue as my screen is a larger resolution than that laptop and thus it didn't need to scale. i'm wondering if there would be a more elegant way of handling this, as it's super common that i have a 1080p display, and i'll be connecting to other 1080p displays all day long. is there a way that the downscaling could be a little more accurate? when i'm at 87.5% scaling, a bit of the bottom of the screen is cut off. update: 87.5% doesn't work at all with two monitors and "split" mode. the screen is broken between the two images and scales incorrectly where it can't be used. also - even when remoting a normal single screen machine, the alignment is out between my mouse and the remote mouse. when selecting items on the right hand side of the screen, i need to click a little bit to the left of what i need to click on. perhaps a full screen option might be good? many thanks :-) cheers, Wiz!! |

greetings,
i've been playing around with MeshCentral and really loving it. Thank you Ylian for your most fine work.
i have discovered, however, that when using MeshRouter to remote into a windows machine that a different codec appears to be used for the remote desktop. when i use the web browser to remote into a windows machine it works perfectly, but with MeshRouter i can see items redrawing and moving by a few pixels as i am using the machine. Even if i set quality to 100% it makes no difference.
the same does not appear to occur when I use MeshRouter to remote control a Mac machine.
is there any way to change the codec or whatever is being used in MeshRouter when connecting to a windows machine to be the same as the web version?
i love using MeshRouter as my desktop management agent, but this one thing makes it really an issue for remote control of windows machines. even an option to change the method used as a settings preference would be fine.
i'm not sure why MeshRouter uses this different codec or method of remote control. however it works in the web browser or when controlling a Mac is perfect.
many thanks again :-)
cheers, Wiz!!
