Glorytun TCP v. UDP?

Hello all,

I suspect I need to be educated here, but here goes. The default and method I ended up communicating with my VPS was via Glorytun TCP. The results were pretty decent but I found that transfer speeds were slow and took a while to "pick up speed" when I switched to Glorytun UDP the results pretty much doubled and I generally found everything to be better overall.

Why am I wrong, why is tcp the default over udp? thoughts and comments much appreciated.
