PSA: Upcoming 2.8 release

I've been pretty quite lately, and thought I'd post a quick announcement/PSA. I'm working on 2.8, and it's been taking longer than expected. I rewrote the state machine and it ended up being much larger in scope than expected, and has taken longer. Because of this I haven't been paying too much attention to issue posted or to PRs. Once I get the 2.8 branch stable, I plan to publish a beta and have the community try it out and flush out bugs before it goes live.
