Writing markup front-matter cover image

I found 'cover front-matter' feature.
But I don't know what is really mean, and how to use that.

I need what's that and some example to used please.

I am confused about how to write image:.

In my case...
Some image files in posts directory and use ![image](cover.png) like this
post markdown path : posts\2020\12\review_deep_learning_from_scratch_3.md
cover image path : posts\2020\12\review_deep_learning_from_scratch_3\cover.png

cover:
    image: "<image path/url>"
    # can also paste direct link from external site
    # ex. https://i.ibb.co/K0HVPBd/paper-mod-profilemode.png
    alt: "<alt text>"
    caption: "<text>"

How should I write that code?

If image is located under static ex. static/postname/cover.jpg add path as

image: postname/cover.jpg

and if using Page Bundles ie image is relative,
ex. content/posts/post1/media/cover.jpg add it as

image: media/cover.jpg
relative: true

I see this is missing in the docs.

But..

cover image is too big.

so.. I would like to modify it as shown in the picture.
(if cover -> cover image is drawn to the left of the post.)

PaperMod will just show the image "as-is". If you want to show smaller, then make it smaller (crop, cut, resize).

As for the thumbnail on the side to be the cover, well, you need to start coding it yourself. I think you can do by using display: flex on entry-content in post-entry.css.
