I second this, Zeitgeist (as a plugin/settings toggle, for the privacy concerned) would be awesome. |

How exactly do you expect albert to use zeitgeist? |

Often one returns to the documents most recently edited. Albert could use semantic information to show, for example, recently opened pdfs first. Even more, perhaps show the recently opened pdfs together with the semantically linked apps and other files, ie, files that were also being worked on at the same time the most relevant file was. I might not be very clear here, but the euristic would be to show semantically linked files together. Finally, albert could simply use zeitgeist to present softwares and apps that have been more frequently used, or frequently used together, first in the list of results. |

Need your help. Often I just cannot imagine the use case/workflow. What exactly does zeitgeist do? What does the api look like? My understanding is that it provides the e.g. recently used 10 items. So whats the workflow? |

We need functionality that provides out of the box Unity DE search when "Super" is pressed, or as an example Spotlight in macOS. That is, a semantic search for all objects in the system (files, folders, applications, etc.) with the most used by the user in the first places shown in the search results |

MRU semantics are implemented in albert. However just in the albert cosmos. Meaning apps opened somewhere else will not be recognized as "recent activity". Still I dont get the request. Should the recency have an impact on the order of the items (scoring) or do you want to have quick access to the recently used items? |

This is what's keeping me using Synapse Launcher instead of fully changing to Albert. With Zeitgeist, Synapse knows that when I type 'rimworld' I want my video thumbnail file, not the game, as it is accessed more frequently, I think. It also seemed to understand what all of my files and recently used programs are, most frequent actions, etc, from basically one day of use. |

If you access rimworld through Albert it will remember this choice and respect that. Doesn't this suffice? Respecting choices through other mechasims is not that easy since there is not a single one. On Mac this may be spotlight, on Linux there are implementations like zeitgeist. If I get things right every DE has its quirks like baloo, tracker etc. Hard to implement. We would need an extra plugin interface for some sort of "relevance provider". The easy way to go would be to get the list of recent items and display them. However this would still come with the problem of normalizing the relevance metrics. |

This is probably not going to happen, at least not in the files extension. Personally I am not interested in platform specifics. My goal is to abstract over platforms, therefore I dont want to spent time in platform specifics. Especially if it is even GNOME specific. I am not saying that a Zeitgeitst extension would not make any sense. You still can go ahead and implement it. Ill make this one a discussion |

Thank you for the great tool.
It would be nice to have support for Zeitgeist information, as it is installed by default in several OSes and may even reduce the need to index files too often.
