I definitely see the appeal of calendr, it's cute. And it's something I would call a pet project too.
But IMO since this is going to be RStudio-endorsed, and therefore used by a lot of people, it might end up causing more trouble than its worth. It's just too close to the real spelling, by dropping only one letter it becomes a bit confusing and very easy to misspell. I would think that it's best to consider this now, before many people know about the package.
Reminds me of @jennybc 's gspreadr (clever) vs googlesheets (boring but easy) name conflict... :)

That one was originally named after a Python library, gspread. But before release, two friends intervened and made me think really hard about that name and say it out loud 😱 Any way that is a separate story and only tangentially related to this. (I don't have a strong opinion here.)
